Collection for Magdalene House 
As part of the District Conference initiative, we will be collecting items for Magdalene House at our meetings the next few weeks.   Please bring your donations to a Thursday meeting.  
 
On Friday, July 27th, Rotarians will be putting together 400 bags for Magdalene Omaha/Thistle Lights. These new beginning bags will provide three days of much needed personal supplies. Magdalene Omaha/Thistle Lights is a survivor-led program of healing, recovery, and economic empowerment for women who experienced sex trafficking/prostitution, abuse, and addiction.  (www.magadeleneomaha.org

Prospect Hill Cemetery, the oldest pioneer cemetery in Omaha, 3202 Parker Street, has an agreement with Suburban Rotary to Adopt-A-Plot of grounds to keep tidy all during the growing season.  Please consider coming for one of the following future Saturday's, from 10 a.m.-noon, and help weed whack, rake yard waste, sweep the curbs, pick up sticks and pick up litter. Attendance credit guaranteed for your two hour effort.  The following Saturdays include:  July 28th, August 25 and September 22nd.  Please contact Ward Peters and have some fun on the beautiful grounds.

Condolences to C.L. and Patty Landen.  C.L's mother, Mary,  passed away last week.  You can read an article about her by clicking here.  Please keep C.L. and his family in your thoughts in prayers.  Their address is 9729 Fieldcrest Drive, Omaha, NE 68124.
 
Please keep Marc and Dina N'da in your thoughts and prayers as well. Marc's father was killed in a car accident and Marc will be traveling home for the funeral.   Their address is 2242 Florence Blvd., Omaha, NE 68110. 
 
You may remember Christy Currie, wife of Rotarian Jason Currie, who spoke to us in May about single mothers on Mother's Day.   Christy has been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer.  Please keep them and their 3 young children in your thoughts and prayers.  Their church is organizing meals (Click here) and other assistance can be offered by contacting Lyndsay Farrington at linnyf13@gmail.com.   To send a note of encouragement, their address is 12117 S. 212th St. , Gretna, NE 68028.
Attend the District Conference! 
Suburban Rotary's Meeting is Cancelled on July 26th to encourage your attendance at the District Conference. 
 
Greetings fellow Rotarians,
 
I hope you are planning on attending the Rotary District 5650 Conference July 27 and 28 at the Cornhusker Marriott in Lincoln.  We have planned a fun and informative conference!  District 5650 has accomplished a lot this year.  We should be proud.  Come celebrate with us!  I predict you will be inspired.
The Cost is $90 for one day or $150 for the whole conference. 
 
 
 
1)     Current Rotary International Trustee and past Director Mary Beth Growney Selene will be a keynote speaker talking about her experience in Rotary and about women’s empowerment. 
2)     Marybeth along with former Rotary International Rotary International Director and current Operations Chair Frank Goldberg will jointly discuss changes in Rotary
3)     Nebraska State Patrol Investigator Tony Kavan will speak on human trafficking progress and challenges and the importance of partnerships
4)     Showcasing our amazing tree planting efforts across the district.
5)     Highlighting our youth programs.  RYLA had the best year ever,  Rotaract is growing!  NAYEN was a big success.  
6)     Excellent speakers on tree ecology and women’s empowerment.
7)     A house of Friendship highlighting District projects especially tree planting but also district and global initiatives
8)     Two service projects that significantly aid human trafficking interventions in Ne/IA
9)     Networking experts panel and discussion of networking as a core function of Rotary
10)  Networking time where Rotarians can collaborate and celebrate
11)  We will have excellent music provided on Friday Evening.
