Meeting re-cap 2/4

Last week Jim Conway and Joe Sequenzia served as our greeters. Jason Currie gave our invocation. We had several announcements and and a new member introduction. We also had several of our Interact students as guests. Trevor Kula introduced Brook Hudson who talked about the start and growth of Omaha Fashion Week. The RISK bag was at $267 and Trevor Kula won a free lunch.

Welcome Angie Bingham!

Last week Holly Hollenbeck introduced us to new member Angie Bingham. Angie is the Senior Consultant for Collections for the American Red Cross. She has been with the Red Cross since 2000 and in her current role she is responsible for implementing the new HRIS system for Collections, overseeing the annual employee engagement survey for 11,000 employees, and is creating a new supervisory and leadership development program.

Angie holds a degree in Business Administration from UNO and a Master's in Project Management from George Washington University. She is married to Patrick and has a daughter and a furry child as well. In her free time, she enjoys running, watching her daughter compete in dance, and vacationing on St. John's in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Paul Harris Fellow

Last week Foundation Chair Julie Livingston recognized Mary Bernier for her giving to the International Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation supports causes around the world including health, nutrition, literacy, and disease-eradication efforts. Rotary Foundation funds have been used by our club to send science kits to the girls' school in Afghanistan, as well as for local projects such as the Crestridge Health Fair.

When asked why she supports the Rotary Foundation Mary said,"When I was a single mother, life was tough for me and my sons financially. We are grateful for the help we received and want to give back. It is a great opportunity to give back through the Rotary Foundation knowing their mission for helping the less fortunate."

Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your shift to put on your apron and hairnet.

Mark your calendar and invite your colleagues to the Annual Metro Rotary Networking Night "Buy the Big Wheel". Booths are sold out so we hope to see you and hundreds of your closest friends and co-workers there to socialize and network. Rotary Softball?

The 2016 Rotary Rec Co-ed Softball Team is forming now. Please let Jennifer or Nick Jasa if you are interested. Games will be Sunday evenings April-August. Cost will be around $70. We play in the "very recreational" league.

Rotary Book Club

The February Book is "Gray Mountain" by John Grisham and the March Book is "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls.

We have decided to now have the Book Club on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Bookworm at 90th & Center.

Participation counts as an attendance credit, the books are great reads, and it is fun to get together to discuss our various opinions on the books at the meetings!
