In-Person Meetings- Please read!
President Mary Bernier announced last week that the Board has decided to move forward with resuming in-person meetings on Thursday, August 13th with safety protocols in place and as long as there are no changes to directives from the health department and state government.   Meetings will continue in a hybrid format offering both online participation and in-person participation.   We know that not everyone can or will be comfortable with attending meetings in-person so the plan is to continue to offer both formats going forward.

We will have a in-person meeting at ESU#3 to test the format on Thursday, July 23rd.  (6949 S. 110th St. )  You must sign up in advance.  We will be having lunch from Famous Dave's- pulled beef sandwich, potato salad, baked beans, and bottled water.  Cost is $16-  Please sign up by paying online at the below link.  You must be signed up no later than Monday, July 20th.     You can also use your lunch ticket- just email Jennifer.

In person meetings protocols:

1.) Timing: In-person meeting at Anthony's will begin on Thursday, August 13th.   We will require sign-ups in advance for all attending no later than noon the day before.

2.)  Meals: All those attending in-person will be required to purchase lunch. Anthony's will not allow us to have people who are not eating in the facility at this time. The cost for the meal is going up as it will now be plated and served.  More information about costs will given next week.  You can arrive anytime after 11:15. Salads will be pre-set on the tables at 11:30 and meals will be served at noon.  Serving meals at the same time will ensure food temperature and quality.   Anthony's employees will be masked and gloved.

4.) Seating will be somewhat socially distanced.   We will be using a larger space, spreading out tables, and limiting the number of people at each table.  We will ask that you remain at your table for the meeting.

5.)  Masks: Greeters will meet you at the entrance and offer you hand sanitizer when you enter. We ask everyone to wear masks arriving and departing.  You can remove your mask to eat when you are seated.

6.) Badges will put out for those registered to attend a meeting. We will ask you then to keep your badge with you for the foreseeable future. (Leaving it in your car is the best way not to lose it!). We are trying to minimize contact and having everyone keep his/her own badge helps with that.

7.) Attendance:  Attendance requirements are not in force, however, we will recognize those who have achieved 100% attendance regardless of whether that is online or in-person.  Since we don't have a good way of tracking this, it will be on the honor system.     There will be no scanning of badges for attendance.

8.) Payments: In order to minimize risks, we are going to move away from handling cash at Rotary meetings.  We will ask that you either pay for your meeting online or purchase a lunch ticket.  You can also bring a check made out for the correct amount to a meeting but you must still register in advance.   This will include fines, duck for a buck, and brag for bucks. There is a link on the home page top right corner to pay these- you are on the honor system- paying fines helps our local Foundation.

In summary, you are important to Suburban Rotary and we will meet you wherever you are with health and safety concerns. We understand that not everyone can or will want to attend in-person meetings.  For that reason, we are investing in technology and soliciting volunteers to bring you the best hybrid meeting experience also. We hope you will share with those you know the value of Rotary in your life and business. We hope to use the hybrid meetings as a recruiting tool, allowing people to participate while traveling or when work or other situations do not allow for in-person attendance.

We look forward to seeing you in person or online!
President's Corner
Be sure to check out this section each week for a message from President Mary Bernier.

Hello All My Rotary Friends,

To quote Sherlock Holmes, “Come, Watson, Come. The game is a foot!” And so it is at Suburban Rotary. You members may enter a contest to complete this phrase, “Welcome to Suburban Rotary,” the ..........”

In the past, presidents have used phrases such as “...the greatest club in the world, “...the greatest club in the universe,” and the greatest club in the cosmos.” What’s next? The winner of this contest will earn the distinction of hearing their award winning phrase said at our club meetings for the next full year. There will also be a grand prize for the winning entry. Email your entry to me. You may enter more than once. The contest will end at 11:59 pm on Sunday, July 26.

Be sure to attend this week’s Zoom meeting meeting to hear Joe Starita talk about Dr. Susan Le Flesche, a significant historical figure in our state history. And, who knows, we may have another drop-in guest at the meeting!

Yes, the game is definitely afoot! See you on Thursday!
