How to Join Us
Please plan to join us this Thursday at noon for our regular meeting.  The meeting will open at 11:45 for greetings.  Tom will ring the bell at 12:05.
There are 3 ways to join.
1.) You can join via our Zoom meeting by clicking on this link or pasting it into your browser.
This will allow us to see your face on camera (if you want- this is always an option to turn it off-everyone will be off once the speaker starts).  Download Zoom to your phone or computer now so you are ready.
2.) You can also join us on Facebook where we will stream the meeting live:
You will need a Facebook account to watch on Facebook and we won't see you on camera.  Again, if you need help setting up a Facebook account, please reach out.
3.) Lastly, you can participate via your phone (landline or cell phone) by calling in at any of these phone #s:

Thank you Rotarians!
Thank you to all those who helped us reach our incredible total for the Food Bank for the Heartland!
Social Distance Service Project with a Perk!
Thank you to everyone who turned out last Saturday to help with our plot clean-up at Prospect Park Cemetery.  We will reconvene again in 2 weeks.
Social distancing is totally perfect for this project.  Our plot of land we are responsible for will need all kinds of active outdoor folks who have the desire and willingness to rake, sweep the curb, weed whack tall grass along the long west border fence line, pick up piles of yard waste (trucks are totally needed) to be moved to one prime drop off space, pick up sticks and litter and have fun.
Saturday, May 30th, anytime between 8 a.m.-Noon, grab your rake and broom or come pick up sticks at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 3202 Parker Street for the Adopt-A-Plot project.  Social distancing is ideal for this outdoor yard waste management volunteer gathering at one of the oldest cemeteries in Nebraska.  All Rotary volunteers attending will receive a free pass to attend a future History Walks Nebraska tour valued at $25.  Call Ward Peters at 402-551-6121 for any questions or to sign up to have fun outdoors tidying up a section of the grounds of the cemetery.
(A couple photos from Saturday- see them all on Facebook)
Join a Committee for 20/21!
Due to not meeting in person and the challenges with committee sign-ups which are normally done at meetings, we are going to leave you on your current committee unless you'd like to serve elsewhere.  To change committees or to sign up to serve, please contact Jennifer.   Please note we have a new Inclusion and Diversity committee for the upcoming Rotary year.   CLICK HERE to read the committee descriptions.  Committees will begin meeting in May and June to plan activities for the upcoming Rotary year.
Elmwood Rotary Golfers
Our Suburban Rotary Golf 🏌️‍♀️ group is forming again this year to play on Tuesdays at Elmwood Golf Course.  We usually tee off around 11:30 am and play 18 holes.  Weekly we send out an e-mail to everyone on our golfer list. Once we hear back we schedule enough tee times to match the number of players.
We pair up in foursomes at the course and then head out.  You don’t have to play every week and you don’t have to be a great golfer, we just want to know you are coming so we can have enough tee times.  Women are welcome.
Contact Jeff Moran, Frank Goldberg, or Herb Hartman to get on the weekly e- mail list.
Annual Dues Invoices
Annual dues invoices went out via email last week. If you didn't get one, please let Jennifer know.  Dues are due by June 1st.  We have monthly payment plans and financial assistance available if you have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Please do not leave Suburban Rotary- you are important to our club and our community. Please reach out to Jennifer for confidential assistance.
Service Above Self
If you would like to volunteer at the Food Bank for the Heartland, please go to their website by clicking HERE and registering to volunteer. Families can volunteer together. You must provide your own mask and the opportunities allow for social distancing.
If you would like to volunteer for the Salvation Army to distribute meals please contact Erin at the info below:
Meal delivery locations and times below:
April 24-May 25
Mondays – Castelar Elementary – 11:30am-2pm
Mondays – Jefferson Elementary – 2:30-5pm
Mondays – Prairie Wind Elementary – 5:30-8pm
Fridays – Thomas Jefferson High School, CB – 12:30-3pm
Fridays – Wilson Middle, CB – 3:30-6pm
**Due to CDC recommendations and guidelines we are restricted to no more than 10 volunteers at these sites and each volunteer must be between the age of 16-65. Be aware that volunteer sign up is fluid and we must maintain the CDC recommendations specific to the amount of people in the group. This could mean your desired location may be full.
In addition to the meal distribution sites, we also have an opportunity called Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen where meals are passed out to children throughout the summer. It is looking like we will need more volunteers by July and August. If this is something you or your members have interest in, please let me know and I will get them the specific information needed to enroll in this.
Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen – May 27 through August 7/runs every week day/volunteer shift is from 9am-2:30pm

Support our friends at Anthony's
Obviously Anthony's is missing our business as well as that of many other groups.   If you would like to help them and the workers, consider order takeout from them.   They are also offering cook out packages for your grill.  You can call 402-331-7575 and place your order on the phone and they will bring it out to you.   All tips are being put into a pool for all the servers, so be generous!
Invite a Guest to Rotary this Week!
Just because we are not meeting in person, doesn't mean we can't host guests at Suburban Rotary meetings. In fact, now is the perfect time to invite someone to "visit" us at a virtual meeting.  Be sure to send Jennifer the name of your guest in advance so she knows to let them in via the "waiting room" on Zoom.  A visitor can learn about the fantastic service Rotary provides to the community especially during these tough times and the fellowship and friendship that being a Rotarian offers.   Just direct folks to the website to get all of the information to join us.  If they don't want to join via Zoom, encourage your guest to watch our livestream on Facebook and leave a comment for us.
