Meeting re-cap 3/10

Last week Mike Langford and Steve Thornburg served as our greeters. Julie Livingston gave our invocation. We had several announcements and presentations. Curt Peters recognized Rose Mary Hefley as a Rotary "Gift to the World" for work on the Buy the Big Wheel Event and Nick Jasa for his work on the meal packaging project. Dave Laferla introduced Michael Wehling and he talked to us about the Stephen Center and the services they provide to the homeless. The Risk bag was at $428 and Steve Oltmans won a free lunch.

Rotary Leadership Institute provides an opportunity for Rotary Club Members to discover Rotary. This is not "position-specific training". It is a facilitated, activity-based program that allows all participants to share experiences and solve problems. We all work together:

Participants are:

- Long-term members and New Members

- Young and Old

- Some Members have Club Positions, some do not

- District Leaders will be at the sessions

The Participants will:

- Spend some time learning about Rotary

- Use and enhance your leadership skills

- Make new friends and build partnerships

- Get more out of Rotary

Rotary Book Club

The March Book is "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls.

We have decided to now have the Book Club on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Bookworm at 90th & Center.

New members welcome- join us!

Participation counts as an attendance credit, the books are great reads, and it is fun to get together to discuss our various opinions on the books at the meetings!
