Parade of Support for Harry Reyburn
As you know, long-time Rotarian Harry Reyburn recently lost his wife.  As we are unable to support Harry at a Memorial Service, we are going to do a drive-by parade of support, this Thursday, May 28th.

Harry is at Aksarben Senior Living off of 72nd St. We are going to meet up at First Watch (this is different than the previous announcement-more parking) at 1222 S 71st St at 6pm.  We will then leave at 6:15 to drive by Harry. Please feel free to bring/make signs of support.   Map is below.

Dues are Due June 1st!
Annual dues invoices went out via email last week. If you didn't get one, please let Jennifer know.  Dues are due by June 1st.  We have monthly payment plans and financial assistance available if you have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Please do not leave Suburban Rotary- you are important to our club and our community. Please reach out to Jennifer for confidential assistance.
First Responders Parade and Lunches
Suburban Rotary is providing $3000 toward the effort to recognize police and fire fighters in conjunction with the First Responders Foundation. If you would like to help with preparation, delivery, or simply to drive by in the parade of support, information is below:

We will be delivering lunch (Chick-fil-A and Omaha Steaks) to the DC Sheriff's office and the OPD & OFD stations on June 3rd.  Every location will have different social distancing rules we will respectively be abiding by. You will be provided with a contact person at each location that should be called upon your arrival to their location. Do not go inside without speaking to your contact person.

Every volunteer will need to wear a mask at all times for every task listed below.
  • On June 2nd from 2:30-3:00 we need 5 volunteers to pick up the food from 5 different Chick- fil-A locations and take them directly to inTouch Communications.
  • On June 2nd at approx 3:30-4 on we will need about 10 or so volunteers to pack the sack lunches in an assembly line fashion at InTouch Communications.
  • On June 3rd we need 7 route Captains to be in charge of the picking up of their route map, water, & lunches at inTouch Communications between 9:15-9:45.  Your route captain & team will then drive to the first stop and deliver the sack lunches/steaks and water. Please get some pictures of the deliveries while being respectful of social distancing and the direction given by your contact person at each location. Each vehicle can have as many people as you're comfortable with in your car. All Vehicles should start at inTouch Communications.

The driving routes have been graciously mapped out for you by Jim Hanson. If you're interested in a particular driving route please call me and I can let you know the general vicinity a particular route will run.

Please contact me by May 26th if you're interested in any of the above tasks.
Thanks all!

Join a Committee for 20/21!
Due to not meeting in person and the challenges with committee sign-ups which are normally done at meetings, we are going to leave you on your current committee unless you'd like to serve elsewhere.  To change committees or to sign up to serve, please contact Jennifer.   Please note we have a new Inclusion and Diversity committee for the upcoming Rotary year.   CLICK HERE to read the committee descriptions.  Committees will begin meeting in May and June to plan activities for the upcoming Rotary year.
Elmwood Rotary Golfers
Our Suburban Rotary Golf 🏌️‍♀️ group is forming again this year to play on Tuesdays at Elmwood Golf Course.  We usually tee off around 11:30 am and play 18 holes.  Weekly we send out an e-mail to everyone on our golfer list. Once we hear back we schedule enough tee times to match the number of players.

We pair up in foursomes at the course and then head out.  You don’t have to play every week and you don’t have to be a great golfer, we just want to know you are coming so we can have enough tee times.  Women are welcome.

Contact Jeff Moran, Frank Goldberg, or Herb Hartman to get on the weekly e- mail list.
Service Above Self

If you would like to volunteer at the Food Bank for the Heartland, please go to their website by clicking HERE and registering to volunteer. Families can volunteer together. You must provide your own mask and the opportunities allow for social distancing.

If you would like to volunteer for the Salvation Army to distribute meals please contact Erin at the info below:

**Due to CDC recommendations and guidelines we are restricted to no more than 10 volunteers at these sites and each volunteer must be between the age of 16-65. Be aware that volunteer sign up is fluid and we must maintain the CDC recommendations specific to the amount of people in the group. This could mean your desired location may be full.

The Salvation Army has an opportunity called Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen where meals are passed out to children throughout the summer. It is looking like they will need more volunteers by July and August. If this is something you or your members have interest in, please let me know and I will get them the specific information needed to enroll in this.

Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen – May 27 through August 7/runs every week day/volunteer shift is from 9am-2:30pm

Support our friends at Anthony's
Obviously Anthony's is missing our business as well as that of many other groups.   If you would like to help them and the workers, consider order takeout from them.   They are also offering cook out packages for your grill.  You can call 402-331-7575 and place your order on the phone and they will bring it out to you.   All tips are being put into a pool for all the servers, so be generous!
