Meeting re-cap 12/7/17
Last week Christian Kloster and Mark Roberts served as Greeters. Michelle Schrage gave the invocation.   We had several announcements and presentations including a new member introduction.  District Governor Tom Cardwell presented the club with our 50th anniversary certificate from Rotary International.   Holly Hollenbeck introduced Matt Freeman who talked about The Big Garden and their efforts to address food insecurity.   The RISK bag was at $565 and and Herb Hartman won a free lunch.

Welcome back Sheila Kalhorn!
Last week Sarah Kalhorn- Wisecup introduced us to returning member Sheila Kalhorn who is also  her mother.     Sheila is a previous Suburban Rotary member. Starting in 1994, she held many positions in the club including: Sergeant at Arms, Board Member, Paul Harris Fellow and Club Secretary to name a few. Sheila is the owner of Sealed with a Kiss, where she does in-home decorating, holiday decorating, wedding decorating, and floral arrangements.

She also works full-time as the manager of the Gottschalk Scout Shop with the local Boy Scouts of America office. Outside of Rotary and work, Sheila will soon be celebrating 30 years with her husband, Terry. Together they have three daughters, Sarah, Rachael and Becca. Sarah works for the Boy Scouts as well, Rachael works for Nebraska Families Collaborative and Becca is finishing her degree in Architecture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In her spare time, she enjoys vacationing with family in Colorado.  Welcome, Sheila!

100%ers
Congratulations to Lou Smetana- 45 years (club record-holder), Herb Hartman- 8 years, and Edna Brooks-Pittman -7 years, who were recognized for perfect attendance by John Binderup last week.

Rotary Foundation Month
Last week Rotary Foundation Committee Chair Roxy Orr recognized C.L. Landen as a Paul Harris Fellow for his donations of $1000 to the Rotary Foundation.

Our goal is for 100% of our members to make a donation to the Rotary Foundation this year. Right now we are at 61% participation.   The easiest way is to go to the rotary website at myrotary.org and create an account to give online.  A $100 donation makes you a 17-18 Sustaining Member. Cumulative donations of $1000 make you a Paul Harris Fellow.

The Rotary Foundation money we give comes back to us in the form of District and Global grants allowing to us to support local projects like the homeless foot clinic, meal packaging for local food pantries as well as international projects such as the girls' school in Afghanistan and the school for the Deaf in Nicaragua.

You can also bring a check made out to the Rotary Foundation to the meeting on Thursday and Jennifer will send it in for you. All first-time donors making a $100 donation will have it matched by the club.
