11:45 Greeter: Patrick Moylan
Invocator: Dan Schnoes
Chair of the Day: Judy Cline
Last week Danny Dunbar was our greeter. Rose Mary Hefley gave the invocation. We had several announcements and presentations.  Curt Peters introduced Richard Hagedorn who talked about the formation of Patriarch Distillers, how they make their spirits, and how they give back to the veterans.   The RISK bag was at $335 and Susan Huntley-Gruenther won a free lunch so she donated the amount to our Military Affairs Fundraiser.

Last week Zoe Baumel introduced us to new member Joe Mackevicius. Joe is an Omaha native and attended Creighton Prep and graduated from UNO with a degree in Criminal Justice.  Joe retired as a Sergeant from the Omaha Police Department in 2003. He also served in the Army reserves for 10 years.  Currently, Joe is the Marketing Director for Brickstone Services and Investigations.

Joe's parents immigrated from Lithuania in 1950 and founded the Lithuanian Bakery.   Joe recently retired from day-to-day operations there to work at Brickstone.  He is married to Anna and they have two adult children.

In his free, time Joe enjoys volunteering, golf, hunting, and fishing! Welcome Joe!

Congratulations to Duane Gross who was recognized for 21 years of perfect attendance by Terri Greenwood last week.

Last week several members of our club attended the Rotary Zone Institute in Detroit for training beyond the club and district level.  In honor of the event, the Spirit of Detroit statue was clothed in an End Polio Now t-shirt.

Thank you to all those Rotarians who generously supported the Military Affairs Fundraiser. You raised $2842 to be distributed for projects to support local troops (we'll update you as those happen) and donated 200 coupon books to local soldiers and their families.

Thank you to all those helped clean up our stretch of highway this last weekend!

"The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah.  We will discuss this book on Tuesday, October 13 at the Bookworm at 5:30pm
New members welcome- join us!
Participation counts as an attendance credit, the books are great "reads", and it is fun to get together to discuss our various opinions on the books at the meetings!

Thank you to Rose Mary Hefley/Achievement Unlimited for sponsoring our student/speaker lunches for the month of September.
