Welcome Steve Jerina!
Last week Andrew Weseley introduced us to new member Steve Jerina.  Steve is a donor services specialist with the Omaha Community Foundation, which connects people who care about the community with nonprofits that are doing the most good. The Foundation enables donors to accomplish more with their gifts by simplifying the philanthropic process. Prior to joining the Omaha Community Foundation, Steve was the annual fund director at Doane University and a leadership giving specialist at United Way of the Midlands. He has been fortunate to spend his entire professional career in the nonprofit sector working with donors who want to make their communities a better place.

A Crete, Nebraska native, Steve graduated from Doane University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science before moving to Omaha to start his professional career. He graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2016 with a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in nonprofit management and is currently pursuing his Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy designation from The American College.

Growing up in a small town and attending a liberal arts college, Steve learned immediately the value of community, relationships, and giving back. He is on the board for Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Greater Omaha, and is a member of the Omaha Venture Group and the Pay It Forward Fund.
Steve enjoys his free time cooking, reading, keeping up to date on current events and spending time with the people that matter most: friends and family.
Welcome, Steve!

Farewell from Holly
Last week member Holly Hollenbeck bid us goodbye as she moves to Dallas to start a new career.  Best Wishes Holly! Please read her message:

Suburban Rotary gave me a purpose (in addition to my children) to give back and at times get me through some bleak moments. But more importantly, individually I found in many of you: mentors to look up to, people I greatly respect and admire, and friends I won’t forget. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for accepting me into your fold, honoring me with Rotarian of the year, and mostly, thank you for caring. The world is a better place because of all of you.

Blue Badge
Congratulations to Danielle Clear who received her blue badge last week!
Service Above Self
Winter Night Watch is full.  Thank you to all who have signed up. You will receive a reminder the week before.  If you'd like to be on the substitute list, let Jennifer know.

Thanks to all who rang bells in November and December:  We raised $2399.58 represents a 39% increase over last year's total of $1,727.24.

Thanks to all who volunteered for Santa Shoppe at Crestridge. Suburban Rotary gave $1500 to stock a gift shop for the students to select items for family members.  See our photos on Facebook.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, February 15th when we will do the multi-club meal packaging project again.

Make your donation to the Rotary Foundation before the end of the year!
Our goal is for 100% of our members to make a donation to the Rotary Foundation this year. The easiest way is to go to the rotary website at myrotary.org and create an account to give online.  A $100 donation makes you a 19-20 Sustaining Member. Cumulative donations of $1000 make you a Paul Harris Fellow.

The Rotary Foundation money we give comes back to us in the form of District and Global grants allowing to us to support local projects like the homeless foot clinic, meal packaging for local food pantries as well as international projects such as the girls' school in Afghanistan and the hospital in Togo.

You can also bring a check made out to the Rotary Foundation to the meeting on Thursday and Jennifer will send it in for you. All first-time donors making a $100 donation will have it matched by the club.

Thank you to all those who have donated so far this Rotary year!
