Meeting re-cap 2/4
Last week David Jacobs and Nick Jasa and our exchange student Lulu served as our greeters.  Bailey Feekin gave our invocation.  We had several announcements and recognized February birthdays. Terry Ferguson introduced Katie Broman who talked about the Opera Omaha program and then we heard from an opera vocalist.   The RISK bag was at $237 and Sarah Kalhorn-Wisecup won a free lunch.

Souper Bowl Food Drive
Thank you to all those who helped with the Souper Bowl Food Drive at HyVee this weekend.  A special thanks to Nick Jasa for organizing. We collected several baskets of canned goods which we will donate and cash which will be used to purchase more raw ingredients for our Outreach Meal Packaging project in 2 weeks.  Results will be announced Thursday. Click here to see our photos online.

Buy the Big Wheel
Mark your calendar and invite your colleagues to the Annual Metro Rotary Networking Night "Buy the Big Wheel".  Booths are sold out so we hope to see you and hundreds of your closest friends and co-workers there to socialize and network. We will be giving away 6 Kindle Fire tablets as door prizes and fabulous food and drinks will be provided.  Please share on your social networks. You do not need to be a Rotarian to attend.

Rotary Softball?
The 2016 Rotary Rec Co-ed Softball Team is forming now.   Please let Jennifer or Nick Jasa if you are interested.   Games will be Sunday evenings April-August. Cost will be around $70.   We play in the "very recreational" league.
Winter Weather Policy
With Winter finally here, just a reminder that Suburban Rotary including Board/Yearlings meetings are cancelled if/when the University of Nebraska at Omaha cancels classes NOT OPS.      Also, if you are considering a make-up, please note that NW, West, Downtown, Morning, and North all cancel when OPS cancels and Millard cancels when Millard Public Schools cancels.
Sign Up for Meal Packaging!
CRUNCH TIME IS APPROACHING! WE STILL NEED 3O PEOPLE ON 2ND SHIFT AND 50 ON FIRST SHIFT!!! PLEASE SIGN UP AND BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!

On February 20th,  Rotarians from Suburban, West, and Southwest Rotary Night Club will be packaging 30-40K meals for local food pantries using a matching grant from District 5650. Please go on our website to sign up for a shift.   We strongly encourage you to bring friends and family to this event. Your church group, your Scout troop, your kids' friends.  We will need 80 people from 8-9 and 80 people from 930-1030 to package all of these meals.  People of all ages are welcome.  When signing up kids, please note their ages (kids under 12 will work with their parents). Also, if anyone needs to sit instead of stand, please note that in the comments as well. We will accommodate volunteers of all ages/abilities.

The meals will be picked up at the end of 2nd shift by local food pantries.   We can also use 8-10 volunteers on Friday, February 19th to help set up this event. Please let Jennifer know if you'd like to help with that.

A big thank you to Walt Horner/Heavy Duty for volunteering his facility for this event!

Rotary Book Club
The February Book is "Gray Mountain" by John Grisham and the March Book is "The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls.
We have decided to now have the Book Club on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at The Bookworm at 90th & Center.
New members welcome- join us!
Participation counts as an attendance credit, the books are great reads, and it is fun to get together to discuss our various opinions on the books at the meetings!
