Major Jonathan Cooper has been an officer in The Salvation Army for 16 years, serving in two corps appointments before spending the last seven years in youth and candidate ministry as a Divisional Youth & Candidates Secretary in both the Eastern Michigan and Great Lakes Divisions. He will be the new business member from Salvation Army.

A sixth-generation Salvationist from St. Louis, Missouri, Jonathan first connected with his wife, Chrissy, at camp as kids. Together, they have served faithfully in ministry while raising four children, ages 19, 15, 13, and 11. As a family, they value time together and encourage one another’s unique interests and talents – from motorcycles to theatre, lacrosse, and gaming.

Jonathan holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry. He is passionate about equipping and discipling leaders, and his love for music, sports, and quality time with family enriches both his ministry and leadership.

A former member of the Indianapolis Downtown Rotary Club, Jonathan is thrilled to once again be part of Rotary—especially in a club known for its transformative work and strong service mindset. He is eager to roll up his sleeves, build meaningful relationships, and join fellow Suburban Rotary members in making a lasting difference in the community.
