President's Corner
Hello My Rotarian Friends!

What am I thankful for?

1) Watching our members give generously their time to ring bells to help the underserved in our community, feed the hungry through the Food Bank, and collect coats to keep our adopted kids at Crestridge warm.

2) Seeing Secret Kindness Agents who give selflessly to bring cheer to fellow Rotarians this year and do so anonymously.

3) Knowing the people in Togo, Africa will experience better healthcare because of the X-ray equipment and medicine we provided.

4) Laughing with you each Thursday, knowing you have our backs when Marlon and I make fools of ourselves or the technology goes haywire.

5) Jennifer, the Club Board, the Board of Trustees, and the Committee Chairs, all of whom work tirelessly during the difficult year to give our members the best experience possible.

6) The many quiet individuals who have dropped off Rotary paraphernalia at our front door, offered to pick up groceries, and sent cards, emails and texts in a effort to support their President.

These things, and so much more, make this Thanksgiving joyous. Wishing each of you and your families peace, good health and gratitude.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Mary Bernier

Welcome Ryan Heppner!
Last week Jennifer Jirak-Brungardt introduced us to new member Ryan Heppner.  Ryan is a Relationship Manager with U.S. Bank and the banker for Suburban Rotary.    Ryan was born and raised in Clinton, IA, along the Mississippi River. He moved to Omaha 6 years ago for work.

He has been with US Bank a little over a year now, but prior to that was in banking for most of his career.   His role as a relationship manager is to help companies both large and small with any needs that may arise. Ryan started at Iowa Central Community College playing football before graduating from Bellevue University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.  In his free time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his 2-year old son, Jaxon. He also enjoys working out and watching sports.  Welcome, Ryan!

Need Some Service Above Self?
With covid cases rising in Omaha, we know some folks are trying not to go out as much.  If you need help with grocery pick-up (or other errands), please reach out to Jennifer. We have Rotarians who are willing to help with this.   All will be confidential.
Sonic Tragedy in Bellevue
Our Rotarian, Bryant Morrison, is the Owner of this restaurant where the terrible shooting occurred last weekend.  As you can imagine, he and his staff are reeling from the tragedy and the loss of these young lives.  If you would like to support the families and workers A Go Fund Me has been set up.  CLICK HERE to donate.    Funds raised will go toward funerals, medical bills, and other expenses.

Please keep Bryant and his staff in your thoughts and prayers.

December Yearlings Cancelled
We won't have Yearlings in December, join us January 4th for our next meeting.
Join us on Zoom
The Suburban Rotary Board of Directors made a decision to suspend hybrid meetings through the end of 2020 due to community spread of covid.  We will look to resume them in January if the situation improves. The Board will consider this decision at their 12/21 Board meeting.   We hope to see you online every week!

Please plan to join us every Thursday at noon for our regular meeting.  The meeting will open at 11:45 for greetings.  The meetings will start at 12:05.

Salvation Army Bell-Ringing- Volunteers needed 12/5
Thanks to all our bell ringers from last weekend. Go to Facebook to check out our photos. We still need lots of volunteers for 12/5.
We will be ringing bells on November 21st and December 5th and need lots of volunteers. Sign up with your friends/family or fellow Rotarians. Go to the CALENDAR section of our website and select the date and link and sign up.

One of our Rotarians, Wei Rowe, was inspired to write a poem about bell-ringing and put it and some photos on her website.  CLICK HERE if you'd like to see/read.
November is Rotary Foundation Month

Consider making your annual donation to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.  This money comes back to us in three years in the form of Global and District grants to spend on our projects.   Your donation goes around the world to promote literacy, fight disease, and encourage peace.   Every Rotarian Every Year asks that you consider a gift of at least $100 to the Rotary Foundation.

If you have never given, Suburban Rotary will match your first $100 to the Foundation giving you $200 toward your Paul Harris Fellowship (cumulative giving of $1000).     Rotary Foundation Committee Chair, Jared Bakewell, asked us last week to "Rise To the Occasion" during this difficult year to support people in need around the world.

About Us
From Walt and Marilyn Horner:

We have been wanting to also thank all the wonderful Suburban Rotarians who sent cards and greetings over the past 4 months, some multiple times.  And THANKS to Mary Bernier for her call.  Walt is still doing occupational and physical therapy twice a week. It's a long, slow process with a brain injury.  He misses Rotary and especially the camaraderie of Suburban!

From Roger Morrissey:

Dear Aunt Bea- You always were my favorite.  How thoughtful of you to give me the Starbucks Gift Card. Stay healthy and God Bless.

From Rex Ekwall:  To the Secret Kindness Agent who brought the rolls- they were really good! Thank you!
