Welcome Joshua Vollertsen!
Last week Kevin Welsh introduced us to new member Joshua Vollertsen. Joshua earned his Bachelor's Degree in Finance from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business.  After college, he moved to New York where he worked in finance and met his wife, Christine.  Joshsua worked for Millennium Partners, focused on risk management and trading.  He transitioned to Credit Suisse where he developed successful trading and investment strategies.

Following his career on Wall Street, Joshua relocated his family to Omaha in 2013.  He and his wife have two boys, Luke and Wyatt. Joshua is the Owner and Operator of two Coolgreens restaurants.     Welcome, Joshua!

Give the Gift of Rotary
Last week our Yearling of the Year, Theresa Kelly gave the invocation.   It made a impression on all of us.  Think about who you can invite to Rotary and give the gift of service, friendship, and fun.

Theresa's invocation:

Thinking back to when you joined Rotary:
Who were you when you joined?
Why did you join Rotary?

RI Vision Statement: "Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves."

Think now about today:
Who have you become as a result of joining Rotary?
How has your "why" developed - what does Rotary mean to you?

In one and a half years I have seen RI's vision statement come true on all levels it mentions. Most personally, joining Rotary has given me confidence that I am worthy of a seat at the proverbial table.

I love what Rotary stands for and I love who we as Rotarians are. I want to share that love and I hope this reflection stirred some of that love in you as well.
Share your Rotary Story!
This year, Rotary District 5650 will be embarking on an exciting new marketing campaign unlike anything we've ever done! A central part of our effort is to tell the stories of Rotarians like you who are serving your communities through video and written articles.
Help us showcase the benefits you receive through Rotary membership and the good we do in our local communities and around the world.

Nominate yourself (which is highly encouraged) or a fellow Rotarian for consideration now!

We're also looking for Rotarians to join the public image committee and help with this campaign.

Last, we've launched a request for proposal to seek bids for the videography element of our campaign with submissions due August 20th.

Visit our new microsite at RotaryMemberStories.org to get involved.

Yours in Rotary,

Rotary Foundation Minute
Our Rotary Foundation Committee (the charitable arm of Rotary Intl) will be bringing you a "Rotary Foundation Minute" each week this fall.

The Rotary Foundation is the charitable arm of Rotary. The Foundation
transforms donations into service projects.

The mission of the Foundation is to enable Rotary members to advance
world understanding, goodwill, and peace through improvement of
health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

The Foundation was started in 1917 by RI President Arch Klumph. The
initial contribution was $26.50. Since that time the Foundation has
sponsored 4.5 billion dollars worth of projects and programs.

Charity Navigator has given the RF a 4 star rating, its highest rating, for 9
straight years. Only 1% of the rated charities have achieved this. 92%
of the funds contributed go to awards and operations.
