Last week Walt Horner and Nate Schwalb served as Greeters. Karen Bremer gave the invocation. We had several announcements and presentations. Kelly Adams introduced Tom Blythe from St. Francis Ministries. He talked about their company and the takeover of Nebraska foster care children's administration. He also took questions from the audience. The RISK bag was at $216 and Scott Keep won a free lunch.
Last week Ann Olmsted introduced us to new member Mary Mitchell. Mary had a long and storied career in fashion, radio, and design. She holds a degree as a Fashion Illustrator from the Albright Art Institute and University of Buffalo. She worked for many fashion publications, stores, and was part-owner in Young and Mitchell Advertising. She also worked as a freelancer. Mary also held part ownerships in the Golden Apple, Le Versaille French Restaurant and designed the Blue Fox Restaurant.
Mary and her late husband, John, were owners of Mitchell Broadcasting Company through 2000 and had 16 Mitchell radio stations. Mary's late husband was a long-time Downtown Rotarian. Currently retired, Mary is busy in a variety of volunteer organizations including All Holy Saints Church, Opera Omaha, and serves on the Board of The Wine and Food Society of London.
Last week Kathryn Schubert recognized Cindy Kinsler for her generosity toward the International Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation supports projects around the world to promote peace, literacy, health, and disease eradication. Cindy was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow+7 for her donations of $8000 to the Foundation. Congratulations and thank you!

"My dad Zhaoren Wang passed away peacefully last Friday night, surround by his wife Lanying Shen of 56 years and all his children and grandchildren at the Hospice House. He was 86 years old and had lived a good, loving life. He was a military doctor, a general practice doctor, and the director of a hospital in Beijing before he retired. He was known for his kindness, quick wits, and love for animals. He is resting in peace now.
He will be cremated and his funeral service will be held sometime in China."

On Saturday, September 7th, Rotarians will be working with nursing students at the Lydia house of the Open Door Mission, using funds from our District Grant to outfit needy women and children with new shoes and foot exams.
