Last week John Maxell and Gary Piercy served as greeters. Angela Phillips gave our invocation. Alan Stanek hosted our new member table.  We had several announcements and two new member introductions.   Holly Hollenbeck introduced Greg Cutchall who shared his story of how he grew to be one of the largest restaurant franchisers in the country.  The RISK bag was at $197 and Steve Riekes won half the pot!

Welcome Michael Linder!
Last week Marlon Lofgren introduced us to new member Michael Linder.   Mike Linder is a Shareholder at Koley Jessen P.C., L.L.O. and is a member of the firm’s Environmental and Real Estate Practice Groups. He has over 30 years’ experience in environmental law, including 14 years as the Governor-appointed Director of the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) and 10 years as the NDEQ’s Legal Counsel. His experience covers all aspects of environmental regulation, permitting, compliance, and policy and includes state, local, and federal environmental laws dealing with water quality, air quality, groundwater, and waste management.  While at NDEQ, Mike was active in regional and national environmental policy including serving as President of the Environmental Council of the States (ECOS) which is a non-profit, nonpartisan association made up of state environmental leaders from across the United States.

Mike currently sits on the Board of Directors of Nebraska Land Trust and Humanities Nebraska Council. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from the University of South Dakota and a J.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Welcome, Mike!

Welcome Zach Ziler!
Last week Yolanda Hoffman introduced us to new member Zach Ziler.
Zach, a native of Carthage, Missouri, has worked in athletics in both the professional and collegiate levels for over 13 years. His first job in sports was as the Sales and Marketing Assistant for the now defunct Springfield / Ozark Mountain Ducks of the Central Baseball League in 2002. In the May of 2005, Zach graduated cum laude with double major degrees in Administrative Management and Marketing Management from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas. Upon completion of college, Zach took the position as Director of Operations and Promotions for the Casper Rockies of the Pioneer League. He then made the trek back to Missouri where he joined the River City Rascals as the Director of Group Sales in 2005. He served as the team’s Director of Group Sales, Ticket Sales Manager, Senior Director of Ticket Sales, and Assistant General Manager during the 2006 – 2009 seasons. From 2010 to 2012 he served as the Vice President of Ticket Sales for the Normal CornBelters in Illinois. He then served as Senior Account Executive, Associate General Manager, and General Manager at his alma mater for IMG Learfield Ticket Solutions from October 2012 to July 2014. Most recently, he worked as the Director of Ticket Sales for the Florence Freedom from December 2014 to August 2018.  He is excited to start the new chapter with the Storm Chasers in Omaha.

Zach has been a proud Rotarian now for almost ten years, joining clubs at every stop along his way.  He has served as a Sergeant-at-Arms, Secretary, Board Member, Committee Chair and most recently as the President-Elect of his club in Florence, KY.  Welcome, Zach!

Rotary Foundation Recognition
Last week , Frank Goldberg recognized Yolanda Hoffman as a Paul Harris Fellow +2 for her donations of $3000 to the Rotary Foundation.  Congrats and thank you!

November is Rotary Foundation Month!
Consider making your annual donation to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.  This money comes back to us in three years in the form of Global and District grants to spend on our projects.   Your donation goes around the world to promote literacy, fight disease, and encourage peace.   Every Rotarian Every Year asks that you consider a gift of at least $100 to the Rotary Foundation.

If you have never given, Suburban Rotary will match your first $100 to the Foundation giving you $200 toward your Paul Harris Fellowship (cumulative giving of $1000).

The easiest way to give is myrotary.org (you will need to set up an account). Your member # appears on the front of your Rotarian magazine or you can ask Jennifer.

You can also bring a check made out to the Rotary Foundation to Thursday's meeting and Jennifer will send it in to you (or have a form for you to fill out with your credit card number).
